About
Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais contributes to the formation of regional conscience, through the production and diffusion of knowledge of the State’s problems and potentiality. Its academic and administrative staff is composed by 853 professors, 261 administrative servers, 6.500 students, 32 undergraduating courses, 3 Master’s Degree courses, 1 Doctorate course in partnership with UFOP/CETEC and 11 units. The institution promotes the articulation between science, technology, arts and humanity in programs of education, research and extension. UEMG has the goal of promote High Education activities, research and extension, with the competences of: I – contribute to the formation of regional conscience, through the production and diffusion of knowledge of the State’s problems and potentiality; II – promote the articulation between science, technology, arts and humanity in programs of education, research and extension; III – develop the scientific and technological bases needed to the use of human resources, disponible materials and of the goods and services required to the welfare; IV – form human resources needed to the transformation and maintenance of the social functions; V – build critical reference to the scientific, technologic, artistic and humanistic development at the different regions of the State, respecting their own cultural and environmental characteristics.
