Study in Estonia is your official national guide to higher education in the Republic of Estonia and is maintained by the Archimedes Foundation. Currently it is possible to study 17 different programmes in English on Bachelor level in Estonia. Estonia has a strong traditions in higher education with some of the oldest universities in Europe. Estonian universities offer various courses from very different disciplines (business, IT, engineering, medicine, media etc.). Diplomas from universities of Estonia are internationally recognized. Graduates from Bachelor’s programmes are awarded a Bachelor’s degree or bakalaureuse kraad. The nominal length of the first cycle professional higher education studies depends on the subject area and lasts for 3-4 years, giving 180-240 ECTS credits, leading to a professional higher education diploma called the rakenduskõrgharidusõppe diplom. After graduating from the first cycle of higher education, either academic or professional, students can continue in the second cycle leading to a Master’s degree.
